Located in Tacoma's Prospect Hill neighborhood, this home is designed with the concept of aging-in-place for a semi-retired couple. The unique site, at the end of a dead-end road in a historic neighborhood of narrow and meandering streets, is at the top of a steep bluff overlooking Old Town Tacoma and Commencement Bay. Marine and mountain views, ranging from Mt. Baker to Mt. Rainier, were maximized by organizing the home such that rooms that are used everyday are aligned on the view side. Outdoor living areas lie to the south and west of the house, with large windows and glazed doors providing visual connections through the home to the views beyond.
